Substance Abuse in the Workplace
is currently the leading concern in workplace substance abuse, and the
Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse estimates that a typical workforce of
1,000 employees has a rate of alcoholism and excessive drinking between
10 and 20%. Other drugs are also a hazard, and studies show that the
rates of some (such as marijuana) are rising. However, substance abuse
and addictions can be treated and overcome, with help.
Borealis Counselling Services offers workshops to help understand the impact of, and reduce, substance abuse in the workplace. These workshops can be tailored to fit your individual needs. Topics covered include myths about addictions, prevalence of substance use, signs and symptoms, fitness for work, stages of recovery, treatment options, and relapse prevention. Our goal is to help your workplace develop greater self-awareness of the problem, increase safety, foster productivity, and guide employees towards greater health.
Please contact our office at 780-791-1757 for more information on this workshop.
We also offer numerous other workshops on topics such as work-life balance, dealing with difficult people, stress management, as well as customized workshops designed to suit the needs of your workplace.
